HBCU Threats Force Virginia State and Hampton to Suspend Operations

Virginia State University and Hampton University suspended operations after threats on Sept. 11, 2025, part of a wider wave hitting HBCUs nationwide. Alabama State, Southern University, Clark Atlanta, and Spelman also implemented lockdowns. The FBI said it is aware of hoax calls and sees no credible threat so far. Campuses moved to remote work, canceled classes, and increased police presence while investigations continue.
